There has been a lot of debate about the real practical applications of drones. Industries like photographers and film makers have been making full use of uav capabilities to get fantastic photo and video footage which look visually fantastic.
However many have questioned if there are any other practical capabilities of drones outside of being a flying camera. Engineers at ETH Zurich have answered this question with an outstanding demonstration of flying and coordination. Their objective was to construct an bridge and would require each uav to carry ropes, tie knots by flying around poles while avoiding each other and ultimately build a rope bridge.
