Hubsan are carving out a notable following in the drone market, with customers loving their cost-friendly quadcopters that are packed with all kinds of useful features. The X4 H502S is a great example of this, coming with a range of features that are designed for beginners to get the most from their drone.

First-time buyers are often apprehensive about spending too much on a drone, and while the price of X4 H502S is on the higher end of the entry-level price range, it still has a lot to offer novice flyers without being too overwhelming to use.

Build and Design

X4 H502S Controller

The X4 H502S comes with a modest design that is quite standard for quadcopters of this price range, with four propeller design and a main body. One notable aspect of the design is that the propellers have a lack of landing feet at their base, so landing on uneven surfaces isn’t going to be easy.

It’s also very lightweight, and while the X4 H502S cannot be folded away for storage and transport it still has a relatively compact design that makes it portable.

The X4 H502S is fitted with a 720p HD camera. This isn’t the most powerful camera but is still decent enough for a drone in this price range. One issue with lower quality cameras is they tend to coincide with a lack of stability, but the X4 H502S doesn’t have this problem.

For instance, the integrated 6-axis gryo provides impressive stability levels for the X4 H502S, allowing it to remain stable for taking better quality photographs and video recordings, so photos and videos are still great quality for 720p.

There is also a slot of a microSD card at the base of the drone, which is recommended for recording lots of videos and photographs.

Furthermore, the drone features 8.5GHz wireless transmission for videos and 2.4Ghz first person view transmitter, the latter of which allows the X4 H502S to produce a live feed from the camera directly to LCD screen on the controller.

This is a great feature for getting good images and videos as you can see from the perspective of the drone to get that perfect shot.

Flight Performance

X4 H502S

The X4 H502S is operated with a controller that features a small LCD screen, which is useful as it allows you transmit a live feed from the drone’s camera directly to the screen for better navigation and previews of shots.

It also has info and GPS positioning, battery life, altitude, pitch, and other useful data for handling when flying the drone.

There are a few flight modes that also make the performance more enjoyable and intuitive for beginners. Expect to get around 13minutes of flight time up to 250m from the controller, although the range is reduced when using FPV mode.

For instance, altitude hold mode maintains the drone in position for taking a photo or video, while headless flight mode makes flying easier by letting you control the drone’s direction regardless of where it faces.

 Final Thoughts

The Hubsan X4 H502S is an excellent drone for first-time buyers looking for a drone that is easy to use with a good quality camera. For this price you will struggle to get as many features as the X4 H502S offers, making it a worthwhile investment for many dipping their toe into the world of drone flying.
